Surfschool Surfzone
For surf enthusiasts or those who would like to learn, there is the surf school ‘Surfzone’ in Sables d’Olonne. All surf lessons are provided by English-speaking instructors (graduated with French certification). Surfzone surf school is certified by the French surfing federation, in collaboration with the International Surfing Association. Lessons are 1 hour of lessons for children ages 4 to 8 and up to 1 ½ hours for the elderly. For information look here on the website of ‘Surfzone’.
Golf course
There is a beautiful golf course located in des Sables d’Olonne. The trail features free choice, biodiversity and all natural obstacles. The course is sporty and attractive and consists of a whole series of practice areas, a large green with a double plateau and a green pitching. You can get a discount card for these courses at the reception if you want to play 18 holes.
Activity park Le Grand Défi
For a fun day for young and old, there is Le Grand Défi activity park in Saint Julien des Landes, less than an hour from the park.
You can go tree climbing, paintball, laser tag, pony rides, zip lines and more.

Parachuting
Great experience to experience the Vendee coast at des Sables d’Olonne from above, solo or with a tandem jump.
Highly recommended is a visit to the beautiful Marais Poitevin nature reserve, which used to be a sea wave and now one of the most beautiful landscapes created by man.
Close to the Marais Poitevin, there are characteristic villages around the forest massif of Mervent-Vouvant.

Puy du Fou
La Puy du Fou is located in Les Epesses, an hour’s drive from the park. Imagine yourself in the time of knights and Vikings. A spectacular new immersive attraction, upgraded car park entrances and an investment of € 28.5 million are some of the most important initiatives for 2019, done by Puy du Fou, the second largest amusement park in France.

Île de Ré
The beautiful island of Île de Ré is easily accessible from the park. The island is located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in the Charente-Maritime department. Île de Ré is a holiday island that has been accessible from mainland France (La Rochelle) since 1988 via a long toll bridge. Typical for Île de Ré are the white houses with the green woodwork and orange tiled roofs, the still artisanal salt production, the local winegrowing and fishing.
A pleasant day out to La Rochelle is worthwhile. La Rochelle is a French port city on the Atlantic Ocean. The city is one of the most scenic cities on the Atlantic coast. There are numerous beautiful buildings to visit which are proof of the rich history of this beautiful city. One of the nicest sights of the city is the so-called ‘Vieux Port’, or the old port.

Aquarium de La Rochelle
Visit the oceans of the world, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Watch Cardinal Bass dance among the red coral, enjoy the ballet of spotted or luminous jellyfish, the crazy sea horses, the funny clown fish, fascinating sharks and cute sea turtles. Aquarium de La Rochelle covers an area of more than 8,445 m² with 3 million liters of sea water.
It has 73 aquariums and 150 quarantine aquariums with more than 12,000 animals of 600 different species and is one of the largest private aquariums in Europe. View the map here.
Zoo des Sables
Spend a day at the zoo of des Sables d’Olonne. It is a beautifully landscaped zoo with lots of plants and wonderfully shady. Not big and not too many animals, but therefore enough space. Children can pet a goat and eat lories from the hand!

Île d'Yeu
Île d’Yeu is an island off the French coast with an area of 23 km². The island can be reached by ferry from Fromentine and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie or by helicopter. The following places are located on the island: Port-Joinville, Port-de-la-Meule and Saint-Sauveur. A beautiful sight is the Vieux-Château de l’Île d’Yeu (old castle of the island of Yeu) and has been a protected historical monument since 1900.

Île de Noirmoutier
Île de Noirmoutier is an island paradise off the French west coast. You will find more than 40 kilometers of beautiful beaches here, but also dunes, forests and cozy villages that are full of charming white houses with colored shutters.
The island has a wonderful microclimate, so you can relax on the many beaches. Cycling, hiking and sailing are popular activities on the island of Noirmoutier.

Port Bourgenay
The beautiful harbor of Port Bourgenay is not far from the park and is about half an hour away. The promenade and golf course make Port Bourgenay well worth a visit.
